Underhill Seedsitters first began working with Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute (LPCI) during the  2022/2023 school year. As LPCI’s native plant garden enters its second year, it offered a great opportunity for eco-club members led by teacher Amalia, to learn about identifying and removing invasives and maintaining a clear edge along the garden beds. While native plants spend the first year establishing root systems and may disappear, the beds were looking a bit sparse.

On May 13, 2024 Sayeh led a maintenance/planting session for Amalia and the eco-club volunteers. Despite the light rain, the students were very motivated and joined the gardening when their exam schedules permitted.

Not all the students could stay until the end, but thanks to a great effort, the gardens look great.

This is the list and layout of the varieties in the garden. Sayeh will visit again in the fall to teach the club members on how to collect seeds from their plants and grow more native plants for future gardens.
