On Sunday October 13, Sayeh and Mina joined Adam from the ReWilders group to replant the front gardens at the Christie Refugee Welcome Centre. Adam and others had already done so much of the heavy-lifting before we arrived, as they had removed landscape fabric and exiting plants and prepared the soil.
For our part, Underhill Seedsitters provided 182 first and second-year native plants grown from seed by our members.
There were also shrubs/trees and plants generously donated by the City of Toronto and other groups.
As Adam, Sayeh and Mina began moving donated bags of woodchips from the backyard to the front gardens, other volunteers began joining in and by the time the plants were laid out, there were quite a few helping hands ready to plant them.
