We are continuing our sign-up for the 2024 seed-sitting season. So far we have 14 members that have registered through this online form: https://forms.gle/RwzN9qQqRr5P1pA4A
This year, we will be having two in-person ways for seed-sitting members to pick up their seeds, meet fellow growers and socialize a bit, so mark your calendars:
Sunday, January 28, 2024, 1 to 3 p.m. Carrot Common*, 348 Danforth Ave., Room 212, Toronto – David Suzuki Foundation is generously hosting this event for several seedsitting groups including us. Details will be posted in early January
Wednesday, January 31, 2024, 7-8 pm. Don Mills Branch of Toronto Public Library at 888 Lawrence Ave E. – I will be holding a free public program about growing native plants from seed and attendees will have a chance to join our group, and members can pick up seeds.
And you may be wondering what will we be growing together? Every time I needed to take a break from my studies, I have used the opportunity to package seeds, so here’s a sneak peek into what we have so far!
Each package contains 30-50 seeds as well as a label, and in case you are wondering which varieties we will grow…. Here is a list of what you can expect. Some varieties are marked with a * and that means that either the quantity of seed is small or the variety is hard to grow, and I will tackle growing those myself. The resulting seedlings will however be available during our seedling exchanges for you to have.
Looking forward to an excellent 2024 season!
