Hello world!

Welcome to my blog! I have taken the plunge to start a blog and share my love of plants, gardening crafts and drawing. I am passionate about growing African violets ever since my grandfather gave me one when I was 10, but my love of growing plants goes beyond the beautiful violets; I am always looking to learn more, and see nature in all its glory.

I decide to take this plunge after speaking with a dear friend. In a different life, I was a drawing teacher and a volunteer magazine editor, and enjoyed both very much. I just had so much fun seeing how I could inspire others to go above and beyond what they had thought possible.

The teacher in me loves sharing what I have learned and seeing my students take it to a whole new creative level. My biggest joys have come from students realizing their own uniqueness and the amazing potential they each have.

Year-end display of some student work! Amazing!

As a volunteer magazine editor on African violets, I would base each issue with a generic question and find ways of looking at it from different angles. I had the great fortune of knowing some of the most knowledgeable and generous growers from all over the world who would share their stories and tips on that topic. Often, I would end up writing a few articles too, and in the end, create a 36-page magazine every 3 months.

Even though I no longer create the magazine, I am still finding new ways of doing cool things and this blog gives me a chance to share that with you.

I love making container gardens and here I am with two of my entries at the 2018 convention of New York State African Violet Society. I would love to show you my techniques on how you can make your own ones.

I hope that you join me as I share my love of planting and painting all of kinds of neat ideas with you.
