Sayeh first met Shannon at a Seedy Saturday Event at Parkdale Public Library back in March 2023. As Sayeh told her about the Underhill Seedsitting group, Shannon saw the opportunity to collaborate with the group to enrich the lives of the children and caregivers who came to the Holland Bloorview hospital. The hospital grounds had just gone through a massive renovation and several areas still needed volunteers and plants to complete the garden. Shannon attended our first seedsitting group meeting in June and met with members and even spoke about how our members could help the hospital. After a quick check to make sure our involvement would not undermine existing workers nor take away business from nurseries, we went in for a site visit and identified plants that would be best suited for their gardens.

Volunteers signed up online and on July 7th, 2023 Pat, Catherine, Judith, Susan, Sam and Sayeh took their gardening tools and around 200 plants grown by the group and began working on the gardens.

It took about 5 hours of intense work, but we managed to weed and plant 3 gardens.

Our Underhill Seedsitting volunteers on planting day: L-R Catherine, Sayeh, Sam, Pat, Susan and Judith.
Shannon treated us to cold drinks to celebrate the completion of this great project.

We did not plant everything we had brought with us and left around 50 plants for future plantings by children, caregivers and staff.
